Primero: El Nuevo Mundo (First, the New World)

America was founded by 314immigrants at its core, and Florida is a perfect example of this.

En 1492, Cristobal Colombo vive tras la Océano de Atlántico en tres barcos, la Niña, la Pinta, y la Santa María.  Originalmente, sus llegado a la Isla de Santo Domingo, pero le no era la Mundo Nuevo.  Sus continuaron tras las mares hasta que los llegaron en una costa de la primavera de la año 1492.  Cuando miró a la tierra, le dio de nombre ¨Florida,¨ en honorario de la Pascua de Resurrección.

(In 1492, Christopher Columbus traveled across the Atlantic Ocean in three ships, the Nina, the Pinta and Santa Mari.  Originally, they arrived at the Island of Santo Domingo, but it was not the “New World.”  They continued across the seas until they arrived at a coast in the Spring of 1492.  When he looked land, he gave it the name “Florida,” in honor of the Easter – Florida is translated into “Flowery Easter.”)

Over time, the culture of Spain grew to the City of St. Augustine. The Castillo de San Marcos, which still stands today, was first home to the government of the King. The soldiers live in the castle with government officials. It was life difficult, especially who were unfamiliar with the weather. Hurricanes, heat, and disease killed one many in the population, but the Spanish did not abandon the settlement.
